Why Nonstructural?
All the things that make a building stand up and withstand lateral forces are part of the structure. Everything else in the building is considered nonstructural. This includes all building equipment, like HVAC and elevators, as well as manufacturing equipment and even exterior cladding. All nonstructural items are addressed in their own special section of the building code.
After Life Safety, Business Owners want to ensure business continuity following an earthquake. For most Manufacturers, that means ensuring the building AND contents remain as close to operational as possible. Engineered seismic anchorage and bracing can be a very cost effective way to protect your investment.
